Dubai: Voyage de 10 ans (10 year journey)

5th August, I still remember peering out the window and looking starry eyed at the neat rows and lights, my friend Tracy and I started our journey to Dubai.

Born in Dubai but brought up by my grandparents in Bombay (Mumbai) and later by Daddy in Goa, we entered the aiport and waited in line at Passport control (Then you could look up and you would be waving hands and smiling faces of your friends and family eagearly waiting to receive you)

I was coming back to my birth place.

It has been 10 years since, and as you can imagine it’s quite a big milestone.

Looking back from a unsure, naive and brave young girl, I owe a lot to this city as it has provided me with great opportunities, friends who are my family, Family who has been there throught tough times, I have won love and lost loved ones... looking back at at those years it seems like a flash. A Dream.

About the Photograph?

I remember our journey to Abu Dhabi seemed so far and Sheikh Zayed was nothing but beyond Defence Round about and Toyota Building (which still stands) the round about now replaced is a labrinth of interconnecting roads.

Coming back from Karama and heading home on the 1st day that Market Winter in Dubai (Ahlan!) the skies were cloudy, dark and cozy, the sun peaked just a little and bam! the shadow play brought back so so many memories. We are just a few days away from 2016 and I hope and Pray the new year will bring us Peace, Love and Blessings that last throughout the year.
