Practice. Practice. Practice.

"You shot that with a Kit Lens" is the Wide eyed reaction I get. Well when I first got my Camera, I didnt have the luxury to splurge.. its precisely then my cheap 18-55mm kit lens and Nikon D60 will be my best friend for the next one year.

It was a challenge, how to get clear and sharp images, how to add blurry background like some prime lens, how to capture photographs in low light.

I kind ofrefused to use it as my crutch, my cousin refered me to Digital Photography School to learn a few tips and tricks and add up a few popular pages on facebook.

so I photographed everything... stuff at home (watched, cutlery, pencils, plants) I photographed people closest to me (Friends, Family, neighbours) I walked around Bur Dubai Abra to try street photography, it can be daunting to point yout camera at strangers and to get them to sometime just blanky stare or to get a simple smile.

I learnt about "4 Second" Myth: The is a maximum period of time at just a few concerts when you can just shoot at crisp, noiseless ISO100 that and Luck! which is based on 4 Leaf Clover Myth, n case you don’t know the meaning of a 4 leaf clover (circa 1877), let me tell you: each leaf is believed to represent something: the first is for Faith, the second for Hope, the third is for Love and the fourth for Luck. Playing with this analogy, I would say that Concert Photography follows a similar pattern.

The 4 Sec Myth works this way:

There is a moment in a show when beautiful and powerful light falls on the stage (and on the musicians of course), lasting only a few, let’s say about 4, seconds. That gives you:

  • 1 Second to Notice it.

  • 1 Second to Set the Camera.

  • 1 Second to Focus.

  • 1 Second to Take the Photo

And then the moment’s gone!

Only a little bit of creepy light remains on stage.

so when and where would I get a chance to shoot a concert... oh lord! help! and read in the news paper of Gulf Bike Week - 2013 at Media City Amphitheater, where Salha and the Million Dollar Band and Maple Jacks (who normally play at Irish Village were playing.

“Gulf Bike Week 2013” is the the International Exhibition & Festival of Bikes, Custom Bikes, Sports Bike, Cruiser, Dirt Bikes, ATV & UTV, Fighters, Off Road Vehicles, Accessories, Clothing & Lifestyle Show.

After the Shoot, i stalked him on facebook, he was kind enought to add me and I sent him a link to my pictures and to thank him.

Below are some pictures for the day | Shot on D60, 18-55mm Kit Lens, ISO100
